Questions

What is MASS?

MASS (Mobilizing Assists at Societal Scale) is the first standard for mobilizing fan teams for health. Fans build teams that help people in their community. Every Assist is confirmed by the person who receives it, and every fandom is scored on how fast its teams form, how many fans show up and how much support their teams give.

Who’s behind MASS?

Square Roots maintains MASS. It grows out of eight years of research, and it’s published as an open draft so others can help shape it.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Nobody pays to play, and nothing is cash.

What’s an Assist?

A support action for someone in your community, done by your team. It counts once the person who receives it confirms it.

Where can I join?

Anywhere. Create your fandom’s page today, and we’ll email you when certification opens near you.

Can I create more than one fandom page?

Yes. Create a page for each one.

Is my fandom’s page official?

Not unless the club, team or artist claims it. Fans build the pages. An unclaimed page shows the fandom’s name only, with a note that it isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by the organization.

What’s a Club?

A group of certified fans who play together, like a campus or neighborhood crew. You can start one or join one once you’re certified.

What do I get?
  • Recognition first: Founding Fan status when you start your fandom’s page, and Assists you can dedicate to the fandom you love and share.
  • Rewards from the fandoms that join.
  • Nothing is cash.
I’m under 18. Can I join?

Not through this site yet. We’re working on rules for younger fans.

I work for a city, clinic or research group.
